Hej! I'm Roën, born in 1984, in a sleepy town called Peutie (Belgium). I grew up with Steven Spielberg, Roald Dahl, mermaids and darklings. By the time I was a young teenager I was deeply fascinated by manipulating and retouching photographic imagery to escape reality and create my own distorted imaginary landscape. My love for creating photo- and videographic images started with this fascination. Triggered by the idea I could create a visual realm for myself I started studying photography at Sint-Lukas Brussels.

I'm currently living and working in Antwerp as a freelance retouching artist and a photo- and videographer.

My work includes themes of trickery, reality distortion and misidentification, encouraging a kind of delusion that distracts from our reality. Everything is staged, in order to reflect escapism and fictionalization of our daily world.
